How to Download a Docsend Deck as PDF

September 12, 2026

Docsend (now part of Dropbox) shows documents in a web viewer instead of giving you a file. That is fine for reading, but sooner or later you want the deck as a PDF: to read offline, annotate, or archive before a link expires. There are three ways to get there, depending on how the owner configured the document.

Method 1: The download button (when the owner allows it)

Docsend lets owners enable or disable downloads per document. If downloads are on, you will see a download icon in the viewer toolbar, usually at the top right. Click it and the original file downloads directly. This is the fastest and cleanest option, but many fundraising and sales decks have it switched off.

Method 2: Browser print to PDF

You can open the viewer, press Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on Mac) and choose "Save as PDF". This works for short documents, but it has real drawbacks: Docsend renders one page at a time, so long decks need scrolling and repeated captures, and the output is a screenshot-quality raster, not clean text. For a 30-page pitch deck this is tedious and the result is blurry.

Method 3: A converter tool (works on gated and protected links)

Converter tools open the document the same way you would, render every page, and hand you a finished PDF. Docsend Converter does this for free, without an account, and also handles email-gated and password-protected links:

  1. Copy the full Docsend link from your browser or email (it looks like docsend.com/view/...).
  2. Paste it into Docsend Converter at docsendconverter.com.
  3. If the document asks for an email or password, expand the credentials section and enter the ones you were given.
  4. Choose PDF as the output format and click Convert.
  5. Download the PDF. Pages arrive in order, at full quality.

The same flow also produces DOCX, plain text, JPG and PNG if you need something other than PDF.

A note on fairness

Docsend exists so owners can control and track their documents. Saving a copy for your own reading, diligence or archiving is common practice, but respect confidential material: do not redistribute a deck the owner chose to keep private. When in doubt, ask the owner for the file directly.

FAQ

Can I download a Docsend file as PDF for free?

Yes. If the owner enabled downloads, the PDF button inside the viewer is free. If not, a converter tool like Docsend Converter saves the deck as PDF for free without a sign-up.

Will the document owner know I downloaded their deck?

Docsend tracks views and time per page for the owner. When you use a converter, the access appears in their analytics like a normal view. There is no separate download alert, but assume the owner can see that the document was viewed.

Why is there no download button in my Docsend viewer?

Downloads are optional in Docsend. The document owner decides whether viewers can download the original file. If the button is missing, the owner disabled it, and you need a converter or the owner's permission.

Does the converted PDF keep the original quality?

Docsend Converter renders each page from the document itself, so text stays sharp and pages match the original layout. Browser print-to-PDF can degrade quality because it rasterizes at screen resolution.
